Conditioning is a type of learning that links some sort of trigger or stimulus to a human behavior or response. Birds will migrate as winter approaches. Dogs will shake their bodies to get water off their fur. These are types of unlearned behaviors which are instincts we are all born with (Spielman, 2014). Learning is a relatively permanent change in behavior or knowledge that results from experience which involves acquiring knowledge and skills through experience (Spielman, 2014). The Process of Classical Conditioning, Operation Condition, and Observational Learning Classical conditioning is also knowns as Pavlovian conditioning, is learning through associate events that repeatedly happen together (Spielman, 2014). For example, if you see a flash of lightening in the sky during a storm, then hear the thunder, the thunder naturally makes you jump (Spielman, 2014). This is a reflex effect to the loud noise. Another example is Pavlovs work with dogs. Pavlov discovered that if a bell were rung before the dogs were fed, they would begin to salivate in anticipation of being fed (Perner, 2018).
