TulareWORKS is part of the Tulare County Health & Human Services Branch. It offers programs to low-income families and individuals that live in Tulare County like MediCal, Food Stamps, CalWORKS among other programs. Like many other public agencies, TulareWORKSs greatest challenges that affect the management of personnel today are employee engagement, excessive absenteeism, disciplinary action and terminating employees, among others. TulareWORKS must overcome these challenges to successfully assist the clients that go and apply for the programs that TulareWORKS offers. Employee Engagement, Excessive Absenteeism, and Disciplinary Action Employee engagement has been a challenge that TulareWORKS have had for many years. Most of the employees are not interested in working at their full potential and the results are visible. They lack the enthusiasm to help the clients. There are some Self-Sufficiency Support Assistants (SSSAs) who do not give good customer service to the clients and just limit themselves on sending the client to see a Self-Sufficiency Counselor (SSC). When the lobby is full of clients the SSSAs do not call the numbers promptly and the waiting time to see someone at the window is high.
