V/AIDS to ALAFA (Francisco) Throughout human history, disease and illnesses have consumed the world with each century having their own tragedy with a biological enemy. Such tragedies like HIV/AIDS, a chronic, potentially life-threatening condition caused by the human immunodeficiency virus, has been causing pandemonium in South Africa, Lesotho. The situation has been so severe that of 45,000 people taken in a survey, 43 percent HIV prevalence among the data collected and leaning more on women, which often work in factories rather than their counterparts (Gilden, 2009). To combat this epidemic, an organization called "Apparel Lesotho Alliance to Fight AIDS" [ALAFA], a special factory-based intervention for diseases, has been providing workers with HIV testing, treatment, and prevention services. Essentially lowering the numbers of infected, this is imperative for the ALAFA, due to the fact that it creates a solution from a moral and economic standpoint. Adding to the agenda that other companies had to see the economic advantages. They now understand that ALAFA creates a healthier and more stable workforce. They see they have a greater chance of getting new orders.
