Historian: Sara (mother) Patient is a healthy-appearing West African infant who presents with his mother for a well-child exam. The mother, who is blood type A-positive and had him via vaginal deliv... ery, denies any complications during the pregnancy or postpartum. States the infant also has A-positive blood type. States that he has a history of intermittent abdominal discomfort, with an onset of several months ago. States they are not sure where the exact discomfort is located in the abdomen, the severity, or if it radiates anywhere, but that it is intermittent usually after he consumes food of any sort, and lasts approximately an hour. The patient’s mother also states that he has pretty frequent diarrhea during the abdominal discomfort episodes. States that although it seems that consuming pureed vegetables aggravates the symptoms, having a bowel movement seems to alleviate the discomfort shortly after.
