System 1 and System 2: System 1 depends on pertinent remembrance, cues and thinking heuristic to arrive rapidly and confidently at perceptions. According to bigthink.com, “System 1 produces the... fast, intuitive reactions and instantaneous decisions that govern most of our lives”. To get myself though my day, I always think about my everyday functions. An example of system 1 in my personal life would be using a toothbrush to brush my teeth and I do not have to think about on how fast I brush my teeth, I just do it. In my opinion, system 2 means to assume is logical, deliberate, attentive and effortful. “System 2 engages at various times- especially when system 1 encounters something out of the ordinary”. “Argument making is often part of the inference and deliberation process when making system 2 decisions” (Gittens, F). I have a dog, and he tends to bark all the time. Just because my dog barks, it does not mean he hears anything, or someone is knocking at my door. System 1 and 2 is applicable to the situation in which I use it. Heuristics: Heuristics would mean to allowing an individual to learn something or noticing something for themselves. Heuristics may be the scenario derived from preceding with problems that are similar. Also, heuristics could also be alternatives that are used to make choices. I used to think just because my mother drove a nice car, I use to think that my mother was rich and had a lot of money. I also use to think that my mother worked in a back and made a lot of money to have a car that is very nice. Dominance Structuring Dominance structing provides us individuals with plenty of assurance to persuade us to act upon judgements and to assist in efforts. The greater the risks of a poor decision, the more obviously the more unreasonable, unrealistic, biased and irrational that an individual has been in dominance structuring. In my opinion, dominance structing would be a positive attribute of critical thinking by providing enough confidence. There would also be a better chance that a decision would be a smart decision if an individual if the effort would be reasonable. Cognitive Bias Cognitive bias is the tendency for a person thinking to be adjusted or changed in a certain way. When an individual decides, this type of thinking can have an impress on people to cause to let borrow credence to expected knowledge and having expected observations. Without looking at the biggest standpoint, when letting go of information, observations can be uncertain. In system 1, a person’s action would have them thinking how they want to think versus another person telling them what will not happen. For example: someone can tell me that an attack dog doesn’t bite, in my mind, I think that a dog will bite if it starts to attack. References: Facione, P. A., & Gittens, C. A. (2016).
