MSN-prepared nurses are positioned to facilitate health promotion for individuals, families, and populations. The purpose of this assignment is to analyze and apply health -promotion models. Strengths and weaknesses of models will be explored, along with application to specific health promotion needs within selected populations. COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES Through this assignment, the student will address the following course learning outcomes. • CO 1: Evaluate the impact of physiological, psychological, socioeconomic, and cultural factors on health within a person-centered framework for care. (POs 1, 2) • CO 2: Examine models to promote health and prevent illness across the health continuum. (PO 5) • CO 3: Integrate evidence-based, person-centered strategies to promote quality health outcomes across the health continuum. (POs 1, 5) TOTAL POINTS POSSIBLE: 150 POINTS ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW 1. Select two major health-promotion models and create a Venn diagram to compare the models. • Analyze the components of each model. • Complete a Venn diagram comparing the common features between the two selected health-promotion models. Use the Venn Diagram Template to complete this aspect of the assignment. • The Venn diagram will become “page 2” of your assignment. 2. Identify one of the two selected health-promotion models to further explore in a 2-4 page paper. Include a minimum of three peer-reviewed, scholarly sources, current within 5 years, to support your writing. 3. Provide an introduction to the paper. 4. Compare the two models from the diagram. 5. Apply the selected health promotion model. • Describe the selected health-promotion model. • Describe the selected population and explain why the model is well-suited for the population. • Identify and describe two potential barriers to health promotion related to the population. • Based on the selected health-promotion model, identify two strategies that can be implemented by the MSN-prepared nurses to promote health. 6. Provide a conclusion to the paper. ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS 1. Abide by the Chamberlain College of Nursing Academic Integrity Policy. 2. Sources older than 5 years may not be used without the permission of the class instructor. 3. Title page, running head, pagination, subheadings, body of paper, citation of sources, and reference page must follow APA guidelines as found in the most current edition of the manual. 4. Rules of grammar, spelling, word usage, punctuation, and sentence and paragraph structure are followed and consistent with formal, scholarly writing as noted in the most current edition of the APA Manual. 5. No more than one short direct quote (15 words or less) may be used in this assignment. 6. First person should not be used within this assignment. 7. The assignment will include the following (in this order). i. Title page ii. Venn diagram iii. 2-3 page written paper iv. Reference page 8. Please note: If you do not receive a proficient rating in any major content category, you can resubmit your assignment with revisions in those content categories to receive a better grade. You have one additional opportunity to revise after the initial submission in order to make improvements. The initial submission must be a complete paper; rough drafts will not be graded.
