Document Content and Description Below

NR 661 WEEK 2 ; ALL IN ONE; ABBY EXAMPLE, QUIZ RULES, GENERAL SUCCESS TIPS. This week we will focus on health promotion across the lifespan. You will revisit and refresh your knowledge about pediatr... ic, adult, and older adult wellness. To help you, you will complete your first Advanced Clinical Management Case. This week, you will meet the Robertson family, a fictional family from Illinois who will be presenting to your primary care office this week for wellness examinations. Annette is a 65-year-old female who will be coming into your office for a Welcome to Medicare wellness exam. Her daughter Melissa and her husband and three children, are also scheduled for well visits in the upcoming week. Be sure to review content in your textbooks and evidenced- based practice resources like the USPSTF and the CDC immunization schedules to help you prepare for this week. Also review web resources on how to conduct a Welcome to Medicare physical, also known as the Initial Preventative Physical Exam (IPPE). Last week, we introduced you to the APEA learning modules. Make sure that you spend time using this valuable resource every week this term. Use the goals that you wrote for your certification review plan to optimize your study strategy. As you review content, apply what you learn in your clinical practicum. Talk to your preceptor about how they best incorporate wellness strategies in their own practice. This week we will move through four more modules. Begin taking what you learn from these modules into clinical and discussing them with your preceptor. Ask your preceptor what guidelines they use or common diseases in these areas that they see. Outcomes 1 Independently formulate a management plan addressing health promotion, disease prevention and health protection for patients and families across the lifespan using evidence-based guidelines. (PO 5) Weekly Objectives • Recall growth and development milestones from across the lifespan • Apply current practice guidelines for pediatric health promotion. • Apply current practice guidelines for adult health promotion. • Apply current practice guidelines for older adult health promotion 4 Demonstrate a command of essential knowledge needed for safe, quality primary care practice as a family nurse practitioner. (PO 5) Weekly Objectives • Manage a health promotion plan for a family presenting to a primary care office using current clinical practice guidelines. Last week, we introduced Brown and Olshansky’s (1997) model on NP role transition known as Limbo to Legitimacy and discussed the first phase Laying the Foundation. Hollier, A. (2018). Feeling like an imposter: new graduates can feel they are an imposter due to the reality of having the title of NP, but not having enough experience to be proficient at the role. 2. Confronting anxiety: feelings of anxiety are a common. Understand what it is and mitigate it through self- care activities. 3. Getting through the day & Battling time: new providers are often slower than their experienced counterparts. Patient visits take longer, there is more consulting of resources, and managing the EHR can be cumbersome. Most often your appointments will run late, you will work through your lunch break, and you will be the last person to leave the office each day. This phase will typically last the first 6 months of clinical practice. Successfully navigating this phase involves knowing your strengths, your weaknesses, and using your resources wisely. Make sure that you are networking with your peer NPs for advice, guidance, and support! Reference: Brown, M., & Olshansky, E. (1997).
