Case Study 2: Stick with a Bad New Job or Cut Your Losses? 6 th September 2020 OVERVIEW Mia, a new program manager at Rescue, is finding a hard time fitting into the company and is disappointed ... with the job's responsibilities. Because of negative experiences with coworkers, her boss, and the overall position, she is finding herself thinking about her previous work at Azzurro and questioning her move to Rescue. Although her current position's salary is nearly double what she had at her previous workplace, she is getting frustrated with the work she has been assigned in the first weeks. As it has only been a few weeks since she joined Rescue, we believe she should stay at the company for a couple more months before reevaluating and deciding if she wants to leave or not. In the meantime, she could explore other working opportunities and see if her old workplace would take her back. Analysis The two main factors affecting Mia’s decision are money and happiness. From a financial standpoint, she is making double her previous salary which is extremely important because she and her boyfriend rely almost entirely on her income. However, she is not happy because she does not enjoy her role in internal business functions and wants to be doing fieldwork. Beyond just the role, she is unhappy with the work environment.
