An assistant manager in a restaurant would be my first leadership role. I failed in this role because I was on a power trip. I was more focused on the position than what the position was meant to be. It was not until I was in my second leadership role in the manufacturing industry, I realized I had to make the position mine; I had to lead, and I had to teach. I had developed my leadership skills. I had, through the years, watched my supervisors as well as asked myself what I wanted from a supervisor. My second leadership role was a huge success. I was asked to transfer to their main plant to train and write the company™s first work order instruction that ended up getting the company ISO9002 certification. Leadership Approach The approach I used with my team was honesty, listening evaluating, and resolve issues. My team is aware of what was is expected of them and what they expected of me. I involve every team member to share their opinions on the best way to fulfill the current job being worked on. Communication was done in group meetings during the mornings and at the end of the day. I like to use a combination of all types of leadership styles as a leader. I am not a believer in one size fits all.
