There is a very high price to pay when it comes to military life. The manifestation of mental health issues is the cost. Our service members sacrifice their emotional well-being and physical health to... serve and protect their fellow citizens and families. Living military life is very challenging for the non-military partner. Researchers have found that those challenges will eventually affect mental health (Allen, Rhoades, Stanley, & Markman, 2010). Military mental and behavioral health issues are linked to divorce because of the unique stressors military service member experience. It is important that service members and their families understand that it is normal for post-traumatic stress disorder to have an impact on the entire family unit. It is very hard to stay in a marriage with someone that has PTSD and trying to work through the ghost of combat, there are no set rules for this. Post-traumatic stress disorder for military service members, develops after life-threatening traumatic experiences happen while serving in the military. Helping the service member and their families to receive the information that is needed to become knowledgeable about the signs and symptoms of PTSD is the focal point of this research paper.
