Blindness is the sole reason for many of the bad decisions that certain characters such as King Lear and Gloucester make. Loyalty in the play is infrequent but certain characters express astonishing loyalty such as Cordelia, Kent, and Edgar. Throughout the play, loyalty, the precious virtue of being faithful to those that you associate with, is greatly inhibited, lost, and otherwise ignored due to the characters obscured view and utter blindness.
