2. Describe the location of resident or normal flora related to the skin and its appendages. Microbes that are not harmful are located in the skin and known as normal or resident flora. Common places... resident flora is found is under the nails, deep in the hair follicles and deep in the hair follicles. 5. Define the term papule, ulcer, and fissure. Papule refers to a small lesion on the skin that is usually a little elevated and firm. Ulcer refers to a cavity that has no tissue from epidermis and dermis. Fissure is a small, deep, linear crack. 7. Compare the mechanisms and possible causes of allergic and irritant contact dermatitis. Dermatitis is an inflammation of the skin. It is usually caused by chemicals or other allergens. It causes lesions on the skin. There is an irritant and allergic dermatitis. Irritant is basically caused from hypersensitivity of the skin that doesn’t include immune response, and the allergic dermatitis can be caused by exposure to different allergens such as chemicals, soup, and make up and includes immune response.
