Chapter 1 Student Workbook Assignment 1.1 My Health and wellness assessment. Questions 4-8 on Pg 593 I want you to type out on a word doc. and answer each question. Then fill out the assessment on... 594 and 595 and then score yourself. I want you to record all your scores on a word doc. 1. Health and Wellness Assessment Emotional Health Fitness and Body Care Environmental Health Stress Nutrition Medical SelfResponsibility 29 27 41 30 22 39 Need Improvement Needs Improvement Good Needs Improvement Needs Improvement Good 4. List two aspects of your personal health with which you are the most pleased and explain your reasoning. I am most pleased with my environmental health and my medical self-responsibility. I feel this way about these categories because I am continuously working on them. I am respectful of others and my surroundings and I feel it is my duty as a responsible adult to make sure I do not jeopardize anyone else’s safety. I am also a big advocate on medical self-responsibility. I remind my love ones to get their yearly checks and follow up with them on any illness. Working in the medical field has really made an impact on my values. 5. List two aspects of your personal health with which you are the least pleased and explain your reasoning. I am least pleased with my nutrition and fitness and body care. I feel this way about these categories because I have placed these values at the very end of my list. I am always making excuses for my poor diet. I use to take fitness real serious but when I added all these activities, I prioritized other needs in front of fitness. 6. List three questions in the Health and Wellness Assessment that interested you and explain your reasons. (I can deal with my emotional problems without alcohol or other mood-altering drugs.) I found this question interesting because I feel that it should not matter if you take mood altering drugs. Some of us humans do not produce the “regular” amount of dopamine or other hormones and need these drugs to balance our emotions. (I try to forgive people who have been mean or unkind to me.) This one was also an interesting one for me. What does that have to do with our health? Wouldn’t it be unhealthy to keep forgiving someone that is constantly mean? I am not sure how I feel about this one. (I don’t mind when other people and situations make me wait or lose time.) I want to include this one in my list because I do not understand how this is tied to health, as well. Is it being inpatient? Waiting or losing time should not factor my wellness. There is no losing time for me, or I should say that there is no wasted time. Each minute teaches you something. You learn things about those people, you learn about the situation or environment you are in, and then next time, you have a better idea of what you are working with. 7. Indicate one or more aspects of your personal health that you would like to change and explain your reasons. Consider doing a Health Behavior Change project as a way to make a positive health change in your life. I would like to change my emotional health and stress. I will do this by changing some of my thought processing. I am currently seeing a therapist and I will bring these scores to my next session. I am hopeful I will find ways to switch my negative and unhealthy behaviors and turn them into positives. 8. Identify factors that prevent you from accomplishing your health goals. Some factors are that I have fostered these bad habits for years and trying to unlearn them will be a challenge. My environment also does not help the situation. [Show More]
